The best way and the quickest way may not be the same thing. I would opt for the best way. Find something that you truly enjoy doing (if you don’t know, then experiment with many different things until you find something). Then, join a club that does the thing(s) you enjoy doing. For example, I love to mountain bike, so I joined a mountain biking club that meets once a month. No heavy commitment, just many people that enjoy the same things I do. You don’t need to limit it to one thing either. Whatever you have time for.

I think the best way is to just get out and meet people. Join some kind of social club, voluteer, etc. This is better than just doing something through the computer. First, you actually meet people. Second, you develop relationships with them. Third, you show them that you are involved in the community, and that is often important to investors.

Seriously, there’s a great book – It is a marketing book though it doesn’t sound like it from the title. Wine Friends and Influence People – by Dale Carnegie – it’s a very good marketing book – and has all the information you’ll need.
