If you sell a product online or simply make money through traffic to your websites, marketing is probably an essential part of your business. Social network marketing offers the opportunity to reach millions of people at little or no cost. Here are some tips for using websites such as FaceBook and MySpace to boost your online profile. The first thing you will need to do when you embark on your social network campaign is to register with a number of social networking websites. I mentioned FaceBook and MySpace but there are many more—a list of social networking websites is included at the end of this article. If you want good results in terms of showing up on popular search engine results pages, SEO Content Management Systems can help, but some are better than others. When you think about increasing search engine ranking, it’s wise to get advice from a good search engine optimization company. There are some things you should know to look for when choosing a content management system, and though search engine optimization experts will tell you what they are in depth, we’ve prepared a list of six special tips regarding the features you should look for.

1.    Making Maps
A content management system should make it easy for you to generate maps on your site that will assist with SEO by exploiting the potential of internal links. There are two types of maps that a content management system ought to help you generate. One is a site map that will act as a useful tool to help any visitor navigate your site. A sophisticated CMS should automatically update your site map whenever a user adds a page, thus pointing search engines towards your site. This can be simple and traditional, and features optimised links to help your ranking. In addition, Google allows the submission of an XML format site map, which will help ensure your site’s indexed. A good content management system will help you to generate this as well.

2.    Information for Robots
A good content management system should allow you to control the information given to spider programs that are sent by search engines to investigate your site. Often referred to as robots, spiders search for any instructions intended for them in a text file called ‘robots’txt’ in your home directory. These instructions can be very useful, not least in telling search engines what NOT to index. If you have both a traditional and a printer friendly version of each page on your site, for example, it’s important to tell the spider so that you don’t end up being penalised by the search engine for having duplicate material. Beware of content management systems that don’t allow you access to information specifically intended for robots.

3.    Coherent URLs
Content management systems should be great for creating human-readable uniform resource locators (URLs). URLs consist of a filename and a filepath, which make up a page’s address, and search engine optimization experts agree that they are one of the most important functions of a content management program. URLs should be coherent and open to easy recognition by search engines. Beware of any content management system that doesn’t recognise the importance of URL’s when it comes to search engine optimisation. A good content management system should make URLs user friendly by making them permanent, useful, clearly your own, customisable, and SEO friendly. As a footnote, content management systems should warn of any unwanted consequences from customising URLs on your site.

4.    Ease of Use
A content management system should be easy to use. Since it is basically a template to be used for creating a site that’s search engine optimised, your content management system should not be so difficult to understand that it takes a lot of time that could be better spent. When thinking about SEO CMS remember that a content management system should do a lot of the work for you, leaving you able to concentrate on things like good quality content.

5.    Visitor Content
Your content management system should make it easy for visitors to your site to create content.
Search engines like to see community-created content such as blogs, comments and wiki submissions. The content they add tends to be easy to link to and straightforward in terms of architecture. It also tends to feature keywords and interesting material – all things we look for when we think about search engine optimisation.

6.    Ability to Track
A good content management system should allow you to track who’s visiting your site and what keywords brought them there. Many of the tools for analysis that help you get this information, such as Google analytics require that you paste chunks of code into each and every page on your web site. Make sure that your content management system allows you to do this – it isn’t a problem for most but it pays to be certain.

Any free search engine optimization analysis will present ways in which the use of a good content management system can benefit your website in SEO terms. We hope these tips will lead you to success with a good one.

If you want to succeed with an online business working from home then you need to know that it is not all about sleeping in late and lazing around at the beach. In fact the first two years of setting up an online business are usually the hardest. They are also the most important.

Here are four tips for your online business success.

1. “Online” Does Not Mean “Easy”

Contrary to urban myths and what you may have heard, setting up and managing an online business is not a piece of cake. Why do you think such a high percentage of people who try working online quickly become frustrated and quit.

Starting any business, including an online business, requires careful planning and hard work. If you are looking for fast money, buy a lottery business. If you want to build an online business, be ready to roll up your sleeves and do some work.

Sure, you can still go to the beach, but it should be a reward you give yourself after a concentrated period of constructive work.

2. Study Hard

Yes, you did hear me right, that is, unless you recently graduated with a degree in e-business. Most people I know who are working online are self-taught. So study up. Allocate some hours every week to research what other online business people are doing.

Examine what they are selling. Discover which products they are referring. Check out if there are any new techniques being used successfully. Participate in webmaster forums. Read the the latest affiliate news and rumors. Check out a few ebooks on topics related to your own.

3. Perseverance Pays Off

Perseverance is almost always rewarded online. Sometimes you will try something new and it will fail. But do not give up. Retreat. Regroup. And then come back and try again with a different approach.

Sometimes you only need to tweak your strategy a little bit or make a minor alteration to get it to work. Remember it can take less effort to adjust a plan which is already close to working than to come up with an entirely different strategy.

Whether or not you go with a new idea or a slight variation, the important thing is that you keep persevering. I assure you if you do that, the rewards will follow.

4. Invest Wisely

Don’t be afraid to invest in your online business. But be sure that you always invest carefully. You should purchase only those books, software or other resources that will genuinely help you to understand your business better or to complete your online work more efficiently.

Don’t believe everything you read. Before you buy any product online check out some online business forums to check out some unbiased feedback. Most good webmaster forums do not allow affiliate links in the forum posts so the feedback tends to be more honest than some other sources.

If you follow these four tips you will have a much higher chance of succeeding with your online business.

There is no dearth of software development companies, however finding the one that suits your requirement and offers the software development solutions that is dependable and cost-effective is a challenge. Moreover if you decide to choose an offshore company, you will have to consider the potential risks too. However, a strategic expectations’ plan and well worked out objectives can help you find the right software development company.

Let’s look at some of the pointers that should guide you in selecting the software development company â??

Whether you are an independent consultant or a software company, always go for a company that offer packaged services including â?? customized software development solutions, on site and online troubleshooting, technical support and timely software upgrades.

Choosing an offshore software development company would imply that you will be sharing your confidential information and intellectual property. Thus, take time to conduct your own self-initiated research on the software development company you want to give your project to.

Offshore or on-shore Company, it’s wiser to deal with the real live person before you seal the deal with a software development company.

While you discuss the mutual expectations, insist on a dedicated software engineer for the software development solution package you would buy.

Make it a rule carved in stone to regularly review your terms with the software development company to ensure that you are in touch with the changing policies related to software development.

In the end, software development can be a costly issue without proper planning. If you have just started your business or own a small firm, developing software on your own wouldn’t be cost-effective, nor would it be pragmatic to hire a full-time staff for software development solutions. Hence, it’s not surprising that most of the companies opt for software development companies for their software development solutions.

9 Headache-Free Tips on How to Start Online Business

For many people, knowing what they wish to sell online is the easy part. Itâ??s setting up the business, and knowing how and where to start thatâ??s difficult. Here are some surefire tips on how to finally make your online business dreams come true without suffering a mountain of headaches.

Tip #1 Choosing a provocative name for your business. Something catchy is best, but itâ??s ideal if your business name could also explain what itâ??s all about. It should be something easy to spell as well so that people wonâ??t have a hard time searching for it in the Internet. Take the time to pick your name, there is no rush and itâ??s better to get it right then to change after you’ve spend a fortune on printing and advertising.

Tip #2 Register your business. Even if itâ??s an online company, it still earns money the way other businesses do and because of that, youâ??re obliged to pay taxes as well. As requirements vary depending on the type of business, the best thing to do is make your inquiries with your local government body or IRS. If you live in any resident community, you should also speak with them and see if they have stipulations regarding residents setting up online businesses.

Tip #3 Spend several days to a week diligently researching about search engine optimization or SEO. This is the lifeblood of the e-commerce, and it would cost less if you do the SEO for your online business yourself. You should look at keywords for your industry, then research the competition and then create your products and business model.

Tip #4 Build your website while keeping SEO in mind. If your budget allows it, you should pay for your own web space so that you get to choose exactly what kind of ads would appear in your website and where. A good online business website is one thatâ??s not only visually attractive but also offers excellent content that relates to the target market or customer. Provide complete information regarding products, ordering and payment processes, promotions, and customer service. Always offer a brief company background. People only buy from people they know like and trust.

Tip #5 Register accounts with the necessary online payment handlers. Although you can still accept payment by cash, check, or money order, itâ??s still better if you also accept payments by credit cards and from online banks as these are more convenient for your customers. Depending on your product you should expect around 90% of your transactions to be done online and younger people are generally more comfortable about it and increasing numbers of them jumping online it makes sense to do it.

Tip #6 Be a member of creditable websites or communities. If you sell anything online it pays to use services such as Honest E Online to provide better assurance of a safe and secure shopping experience for your customers. If youâ??re new to internet business, this can be one of the quickest ways to instill trust into your customers.

Tip #7 Itâ??s time to start advertising. Your first sales and marketing promotion should consist of offering free advice. Hire a copywriter if you truly believe you donâ??t have the writing skills to create marketing content. Make sure you issue an invitation to join your free newsletter with each article.

Tip #8 Collect the email addresses of people who have signed up for your newsletter. Your first issue should again include original, unique, and valuable tips related to your online business. Start with that then follow it up with product or service updates.

Tip #9 Find more ways to advertise. Create a blog and start blogging about your online business. Get RSS feeds for your online business. Create podcasts and make sure to insert brief advertisements about your online business in the middle.

Only when free methods of advertising donâ??t work should you finally use paid advertising methods for your online business. Give it two months and if it doesnâ??t work then thatâ??s time you should go for the big guns. As a general guideline paid advertising and free methods can work well, but to master the free methods you will need to pay money to the experts to find out how to best use them. So in reality, if you leave it to your own devices and don’t pay for expert advice or resources then it would be best to assume that free advertising will only account for 10% of your overall traffic figure, it is therefore safe to assume that if you where to pay money for advertising there is a potential 90% more effective traffic generation techniques.
