The trend has been for bands to focus on social media networks and put less energy marketing their core, self hosted website if they even have one. That trend shifts the control of the experience to the social media site which has a different mission that doesn’t always meld well with a bands marketing message. Social Media Networking is important, but so is having a core website at a unique domain name to be the center of marketing efforts. Core websites allow bands to focus social media relationships in one place. Bands can feed social networks and social networks can in turn feed a bands core website.
